I deal with this at the day job using the Development/Testing/Production =
Server setup and it's no big deal stuff just gets "pushed" over. But =
with Miva Merchant it's becoming a real pain. Miva Mia (on the client =
side) is not in option as an increasing number of my clients cases - =
they want development servers to test and then move. In some cases it's =
three stage. This is fine if the "whole shootin match" is going to be =
moved from Production to Development but increasingly that is not the =
case. It has been more and more the installation of one or two modules =
that perhaps interact with a template - test them, have the client test, =
sign off and then move the module. It can become very difficult to move =
a complex module when it has to be uninstalled from the development =
server in order to install it on the production server and to make =
matters worse - it now leaves a "hole" it the testing process. I don't =
think my clients are going to like the idea of being told they need two =
and three copies of a module.

Do I make my local machine the way station?

    Thanks!
    Leslie

    Good question.
I would wager - if you emailed each developer and asked, you could get a
'NFR' license you could use on your development/testing machine.

I have gotten these in the past from various folks as I prefer a live
    development machine over Mia.

Sure is a pain, but in the short term I don't think there is a suitable
work-around. Probably the best short term would involve letting your clients
view the site on YOUR local machine. (Yes, it would be slow..but.)

It's a thought - but the client already has his servers set up.

          Thanks,
