Re: Can multiple products share one image?

I guess I should have clarified earlier.
    >From the customer's perspective: when they click on a
dinnerware pattern, I'd like them to see a major image
at the top of the page, then there would be a table or
list of items they could purchase like 5ppc, serving
dish, salad plate, etc. Each would have it's own
quantity, color, add to cart attributes, but no
individual images. They would just be listed
underneath that major image. Is there is module that
could help me accomplish this? TIA!

Re: Can multiple products share one image?

Simple way... Just use the category page and assign a blank.gif (1x1
pixel clear gif) to each product.

Fancy way to have loads of control...You can use viking category
templates to do a whole lot of fancy layout stuff,
I think even now you can add attributes for each product onto the
category page where the products are listed.
so you can do the whole thing you want, even put them in columns right
    on a category page.
You can alter the links so that there is no path to a product specific
page... just the category like you want it laid out.

However, I think I would still assign a product image to each product...
so that if someone uses the search feature of your store...and they get
dumped into a product page that way.. they can see what you have to
    offer...
also if you have a site map for your store (helps search engine ranking)
you have more than one way for a person to find the product too,
especially coming in from a search engine, ) You are much more likely to
get ranked higher for specific term searches on a very focused product
page... I know If I'm looking for my china I would type in the brand,
make and specific name of the peice I was looking for. A single page on
that specific page (royal dalton antique lace silvia coffee cup platinum
bone china--totally made up example but would be how I would search for
something I intended to buy) is more likely to get a se result than one
that lists all the types of flatware for that specific line of china)

Again using viking cat templates... you can make that product image not
show and completely control your layout (and keep all the benefits of
inventory control if you use it, as well as sales, discounts, etc--you
can code it all into the template).

AND cooler yet.. .you can have different templat for diff categories...
so you can have a 2 column layout for a line you don't have a lot of
peices in and a three column layout for a line that you do...

note: this is for 4.x stores... (Mike Brok is working on converting his
stuff for 5.x store, but I don't know if it is ready yet).
