    UPS module/secure Http?

    Hi all,

I just purchased a module to calculate UPS shipping by VC. However, =
when they installed it, they are having troubles and my host isn't sure =
on how to resolve the issue for me. Has anyone had experience with =
    secure http?

This is the note he sent me>

The reason the module is not calculating shipping is because your =
installation of the Miva Virtual Machine (the "engine" behind the Miva =
language) is not correctly configured to communicate via secure http. =
You'll need to contact your host to have them resolve this. The =
specific error being encountered by the module is:

MvCALL Error: |Unable to open URL =
    'https://www.ups.com/ups.app/xml/Rate': Error establishing SSL =
    connection: certificate verify failed

The module maintains an error log which lists errors, such as this one, =
that it encounters. The file can be found in the module's data =
    directory, =
    /mivadata//Merchant2/00000001/BROK_UPS_CUSTOM_00204/error.dat.

The Miva Virtual Machine has to be configured to permit SSL and to =
correctly point to the OpenSSL library and the certificate.=20

    Thanks!

Sorry to say, but a new host might be in order. A client had this exact
problem, and it too was the host's incorrect installation of virtual
machine. You could always pay someone else to do it for your host.

Yikes, no can do...as I purchased a bunch of licenses and have to stay on
this server. According to my host, they followed Miva's documentation to the
letter. Any idea what may be going on here....I pray for a easy fix as
      usual. otherwise, sadness prevails.

      thanks for your reply....

Unfortunately, I don't remember how they fixed it. Took awhile and a lot of
fumbling, and it finally got done.

It's really going to depend on how much your host will work with you
and bend what they consider to be a "standard" installation. It took
me quite a bit of sweat & tears to get DataPipe to configure my
dedicated server to the "norm". I had to have special scripts written
to override how my server would install Miva Merchant. It took a while
and quite a few emails and even a phone call or two but DataPipe got
my server the way I wanted it - hopefully your host can too.

            do. Anyone have any specifics?

              UPS module/secure Http?

Reading the Miva Empresa installation manual and using diagnostic tools like
              the TxDIAG / MmDIAG may help;

              <A HREF ="http://www.mivacentral.com/truxoft/?product=TRUXOFT-MMDIAG">http://www.mivacentral.com/truxoft/?product=TRUXOFT-MMDIAG</A>

It should return no serious errors in both standard and secure modes. Most
errors are documented and possible reasons and fixes are listed at
              http://mivo.truxoft.com/txdiag.htm

                UPS module/secure Http?

Hi Again, still pulling out hairs one by one...

Does anyone know where the specific information about SSL and Miva would be?
                My host says he has
                [root@frodo root]# openssl version
                OpenSSL 0.9.6b [engine] 9 Jul 2001
                [root@frodo root]#

However, he doesn't know how to tell if Miva VM is configured to permit
                that.
