    Merchant Newbie

    Patrick,

If you have familiarity with MivaScript, I would recommend going the route
of using MMUI Limited source kit and the compiler to make your look and feel
changes. (Or waiting for 5.0 to be released.)

I think the curve of trying to grasp OUI methods and its "token" language
would be steeper than sussing out the functionality of the MMUI.mv script.

    Hi Patrick,

How difficult it is to modify the appearance depends on how much you want to
change other than with global headers/footers, etc. that are built-in to
merchant. You could purchase the compiler and modify the mmui source.
OpenUI is definitely the way to go. OpenUI basic is the one you want unless
    the advanced version suits you.

For extensive customizing, you will probably want to look at OpenUI Supermod
or OpenDesigner due to your mivascript background.

The other option is the template modules from viking

    Hello All,

I have been doing MIVA scripts for 3 or 4 years now and rarley post to the
list but have learned a lot from others posts. I have created a small
shopping cart system but no one has more than 50 or 60 products. I now have
a client that wants a quite extensive online store and I am considering
using merchant. I have no clue when it comes to merchant but I have seen
lots of reference to OUI ad other modules. How difficult is to modify the
apperance of the store? Is OUI required to do this? Any information would
    be appreciated.

    TIA
    Patrick
