synchro bug(?) specifying AR account for restricted user

    Hello,

I have Synchro basically working for a client of mine, but am have a
    permissions problem, more or less.

We want the person using Miva/Synchro to only have access to certain
parts of QuickBooks - accounts receivable, customers, sales reports,
etc. and not the other more sensitive accounting info. That seemed
straightforward enough, so we set up a QuickBooks 'user' with
restricted permissions. So far so good.

The problem is, when we tried to configure and run Synchro as that
user, in the Synchro config screens, we found we were unable to specify
an Accounts Receivable account for the imported orders.

We found that if we modified the user's permissions and allowed them to
'See Sensitive Information' (a QuickBooks user setup option), then they
could specify the account we wanted and run Syncho just fine. But then
they had access to parts of QuickBooks we didn't want them to see.

Anyone ever have this problem? Any advice on how to get around it?
Maybe we have to set up a special AR account for the restricted user?

    Thanks,
    - Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

Unfortunately, the way Miva Synchro integrates with the QuickBooks API =
requires the application to have access to some sensitive data, =
including the list of all accounts in your QuickBooks company file.

synchro bug(?) specifying AR account for restricted user

      Hello,

I actually found a workaround to this, thanks to another user on this
list, which worked for me. They suggested setting up QuickBooks to let
Synchro login as an authorized user. That seemed to work as long as you
weren't already logged into QuickBooks as the less authorized user.

      Here's the setup instructions:
1-In Quickbooks setup the user with restricted access
2-In Quickbooks click on Edit in the top menu bar, then click on
      preferences
3-In the lefthand scrollbar click on "integrated Application"
4-Then click on the Company Preferences Tab, Highlight Miva Synchro and
      chose properties
5-Have Synchro log in as Admin when you want to change any kind of
setting in Synchro, but if you just want it to Synchronize as usual
have it setup to log in as the restricted user. They will not be able
to change any settings but it will sync as usual. This is the only way
i've gotten it to work for me and my situation which is similar.

To which i'd add, the sync only works when you're not in QuickBooks as
      the restricted user.
