Create Custom Field Values List for the Product Flag in Power Search

I try to run the 'custom field values list' in power search for the built-in 'product_flag' and it not working. Since it's longer than 10 char, I also use 'product_fl' and I get the below statement. Any way to make Power Search create the custom field value list for this?

No custom field with code "product_fl" exists or the code is longer than 10 characters.

Does anyone know a work around on making the product_flag or any other custom field that is longer than 10 character a faceted search in Power search? I am having a hard time creating the value list for any custom field that is longer than 10 character.
