Special characters in product name vs. mvte

I have several products that use fractions in their name. Ex:
Square Magnets - 1 ¼" x 1 ¼"

I enter it into the Miva admin like this:
Square Magnets - 1 ¼" x 1 ¼"

On a category page or search page, the product name displays correctly. But on the product page, the name shows up like this:
Square Magnets - 1 ¼" x 1 ¼"

On PROD, the product name is called using &mvte:product:name;. (The same is true for category names on CTGY.)

I imagine that mvte is used for a reason, so I didn't want to just change it before checking in. Is there a way to display special characters like this in the product name on a product page?

Since the product name is not a customer editable field you can just use &mvt: and not output the names encoded.
