chetv - Due to confusion and issues with the use of external PHP files for processing of the contact form, we elected to remove it from the new framework. While we are working on a more native solution, there are recommended solutions to add this feature to your site. Please take a look at Easy Contact by Phosphor Media or Contact Form Pro v5+ by Advanced Development Solutions.

Hi Stephen,
Fair point. I listed that one since it is still available in the App Store. Although they list Miva v5, I don't see anything stating it would not work with v9. I will check into it and remove the recommendation if it is not compatible.Matt Zimmermann

If I am not mistaken, I believe the "new" ReadyThemes are still in the process of being fully fleshed out, and where also meant to provide a 'framework' more than a ready-to-roll package. That being said, anyone who jumps on Version One of any software and expects a free flowing ride hasn't been paying attention or has a poor memory :)Bruce Golub

Rick,
I understand that now but when we were ready to update an old website to Ready Themes (our 2 others are Iron and Wool) and reading the blurb promoting this new "Shadows", there was no mention that I saw that this was a Beta testing idea. It was held out as the latest version of Ready Themes. I think you owe the customer more warning. We are up and running but missing some basic functionality. Fortunately not major but annoying. How basic can a contact us form be - I think a 101% or the sites use them.
Just my 2 cents!

Bruce,
I'm with you. I'm a Beta tester on some other software where Beta software is identified. New does not mean Beta, new comes after Beta has been worked over severely. It was written up as the latest and greatest - there is a difference..
Thanks,

To be clear, we have a difference of opinion on if a theme is software or not.
To me theme's are sets of HTML and not software and they might include scripts, etc... but there's really no such thing as a "beta" theme.
Now with that said, building this functionality in is our plan (to the actual software) and we'll be replacing stock CSSUI with either Shadows or something similar in the core software as well as significantly enhancing the Ready Themes tools. So at that point once all of those things are in the core software, then I'd agree with you on this one.

Perhaps, I too, misunderstood that Shadows would have more features available (coded into it) since it was a build starting with Elements as the foundation.

This is pretty much how I have been trying to explain what my understanding of what Elements is, that at some point in time it will become the new UI. At least that is what I've gathered from Matt's sessions on it.

So there will be a Contact Us form in the polished version of Shadows?
Eventually something that looks like Shadows will be built into the core to take over for CSSUI. It'll probably be RTUI (Ready Theme UI) or something like that.
And yes any feature built at that level has to be complete out of the box without requiring a php script or anything else to function.
