    Changing Fonts

Since fonts are included as part of the ReadyTheme package, how difficult is it to change a font family. I'm thinking it's probably more than just editing the fonts.css file. I'm looking for a nice how-to, please.

    Hi Leslie,

You are correct, it is a little more than just editing the fonts.css file...but not much. Suivant calls in the specific fonts used, Maven and Playfair Display, from Google Fonts in the HEAD element. If you are using external font resources, you can change the call there to reflect the fonts you want. To change the 'primary' font in the site, edit the 'body' call in the typography.css file to reflect the new font-family stack you want. To replace the 'secondary' font, edit the 'playfair' class in the fonts.css file to reflect the new font-family stack you want.

The newer, and future ReadyThemes, have better font management and are easier to override.

Which newer ReadyTheme? I'd like to take a peek at the font management. I'm just wanting to use one font for the h tags. Next question - where would be the best resource for an external font resource? What would I need to upload if I wanted to serve the font up locally?

Booc and Storyteller have better font management. However, the new framework has more functionality built in; this will be discussed at MivaCon as part of my ReadyThemes mk2 presentation. For additional fonts and ways to install and use them, you can look at Google Fonts, Font Squirrel, or even Adobe for good sources.
