Hi Merchants,

USPS changed their method names, along with their API update over the weekend. The API changes do in fact appear backwards compatible (and should be until May 2011) however, the method name changes do cause issues with methods not appearing at checkout. Our module has a feature to "remap" the method names:

1. click the "Show Advanced options"
2. click "Check for changed names"

While this feature is intended to help merchants resolve this seemingly yearly occurrence, users are reporting only moderate to little success with the remapping of names. It appears USPS added both "reg" symbols and superscript HTML tags, which may be the source of the issue - we are investigating and working on the code to determine why the name remapping isn't always successful.

We will publish a notice here when a module update is released. Thanks for your patience as we work on an update.

I'm also using the CBS Shipping SuperMod. Will I have to do the "acquire methods" thing again when the USPS module is updated?

The server http://production.shippingapis.com/ShippingAPI.dll works for the shipping module that comes with MIVA but no longer works with USPS Advanced. I would simply switch to the shipping module that comes with MIVA but the export then does not work with MOM Mail Order Manager. This is the reason I switched to USPS Advanced.

This is the message I am receiving:

Error message:
No valid shipping methods are available for your order. You will be contacted regarding shipping cost when your order is processed.

By the way, we want to avoid using "reg" and other symbols when recoding to the database or it will break exports to MOM (Mail Order Manager). Just a heads up.

I tried this multiple times since last night, and was unsuccessful in getting it to work. Do you need to map EVERY one, or canyou limit the mapping to the active methods?

Note "little success with the remapping of names" in the post, they are working on correcting the problem...the remapping is not working.

Instead of tying to hook this up with the USPS server, why not have the module pull from a USPS domestic and International table loaded to each server? Then this table can have the "reg" symbols removed with the software?

v 5.033 installed but not working. I assume you wouldn't have to remap method names after the upgrade (I didn't).

One of our competitors (not a Miva site) still doesn't have USPS options either.
