Viking USPS v5 Update Available

Hi Miva Merchants,

We have just published an update to our USPS Advanced shipping module for Miva Merchant 5. This major update includes a change to the new USPS v4 API which is scheduled to be published in May 2011, and improves Google Checkout support.

]   Version 5.040 2011/04/27
]   - Updated USPS Shipping API to v4 (Domestic) and v2 (International).
]   - Altered Enabled_Methods function to accommodate the shipping drop down method names that have been altered.
]   - Also added code that explicitly removes insurance prices from the method names when the call is made from Google Checkout.

]   Version 5.039 2011/03/02
]   - Additional fixes for v5.61 API and Webgistix
]

This is a paid update, when you go to download it you will be requested to purchase a SUS subscription via our MvtRocks.com store. The SUS price will vary by how long you've had the module, and the baseline software update subscription is $5/mo.

2 questions.

1) When is USPS going to install the update?
2) Will this update work for the existing environment or does it need to be applied when USPS makes their changes?

Hi Susie,

I've been unable to determine the exact date of the API change. I believe the email communication from USPS advised that in May 2011 the v3 rate API would be removed from production, and all ISVs and merchants should migrate to V4. The V4 API appears to already be in production, so the updated module will work today.

sigh... new monthly fees...

My 4.x store is being upgraded to 5.x and should launch in a month or so.

So am I paying $55 for this one update?

okay, I paid the $55, downloaded the v4.x update, installed it, and now postal methods are not showing. help!

And because I'm trusting, I didn not save the previous version...

No response yet...

If you could just send me the previous 4.x version, I can re-install that to get things working again...

Have you tried packing the store, as well as ensuring you clicked "Update" when you installed the updated module?

Yes, I did all that and it still fails. The previous version has been restored from a backup and things are working now with the older version.

No other 4.x users have reported this? My store usually doesn't have unique problems.

Can anyone confirm that the new v5 module is installed and working in their store? I'd like to know if there are issues before pulling the trigger.
