UPS custom has been upgraded to offer multiple zone shipping!
Need to offer different rates for different products shipping from different locations? The Viking Coders UPS Custom Integration can now do this!
New accounts menu has moved from the global shipping settings to its own menu (accounts).
Within the accounts menu you have the ability to add multiple UPS shipping accounts. (Include origination city, state, zip and country)
Configurable for global level, category level, and/or product level.
This new interface is a replacement for vary state by zip feature.
With this add on you can use your negotiated UPS rates for multi zone shipping.


-Main benefits of UPS custom-
-Allows you to present UPS rates alongside other shipping carriers.
-Sophisticated packaging logic.
-The interface offers options such as such as calculation of "oversize" and
"Dimensional" weights (you can specify the dimensions of the package), declared value insurance, and hazmat.
-In addition, it lets you configure products to be shipping
Independently in their own box (or multiple quantity per box) and from as many different locations as you need!
-Individual products can be flagged to have free shipping, products being shipped in their own box can be specified to have free shipping on a per-method basis (eg. free UPS ground for product x), and individual methods can be configured to be free (eg. free UPS ground).
-You also have the option of configuring the module on a "category" level so that all products within that category will ship using the option set for the category.
-Individual methods can be discounted (eg. UPS Ground 25% off). Individual methods can also have specific handling charges assigned to them.
The merchant can specify the maximum weight to put into individual shipping boxes as well as specify a weight for the shipping package itself.
The module uses a sophisticated algorithm to pack the boxes to the maximum weight while maintaining the lowest number of boxes.

I am a long time user of VC UPS Customer Integration. I am curious about any updates made to determining package quantity and size. The shipping quotes that my site provides to customers are very accurate except for one scenario... when a customer orders a large or oversized item along with a small item. The VC UPS module creates one large package along with one small package. When we actually ship this order, the small item is always included in the large package.

Because of this scenario, we try to limit how many different box sizes we use on the site (we are down to three - small, medium, and large).

I think a solution could be... for each box size I could tell the VC UPS module what other box sizes it can be packed with. The VC UPS module would then choose pack all the items into one box and then use the dimensions of the largest box category.

Is there a solution already for this scenario?

Unfortunately there is not a solution for this scenario right now. We are working on new packaging logics but it will not be available for a couple of more weeks.
