Yea, I know. No idea why either. You can get around that by using '127.0.0.1' rather than 'localhost' for the connection string:

Does your MySQL user have ALL privileges granted to it? Have you tried using the latest conversion tool? What version of the MySQL connector do you have installed?

I definitely have all privileges on the db.... How do I see what version of connector I have for Miva?

If you're using the latest engine, Miva Merchant Empresa v5.10 and it's library then you're on the latest but just to be sure your md5sum results on it should be 89ef6582de3c2912a370ca17b3171765
