New Module: Clicked - click-to-edit while browsing your store (and more!)

This is an exciting module. You edit product and category content, including text/textarea product custom fields, while browsing your store - and never have to go into the admin.

Setup is super easy and you can be editing while browsing in a few minutes.

Some features include support for product name, header, footer, custom fields (text/textarea), price, cost, inventory, weight, and of course description. Category name, header, and footer is supported. I may have left something out.

It's full WYSIWYG editing and you can set up as many editors as you want in the module settings.

You can also enable "create content" buttons in the module settings. If an editor is browsing your store, this options places unobtrusive buttons on the page if there is no content found. For example, if the product header is not yet created, a "create product header" button will appear in the header spot.

Create content buttons are especially useful when they are used with templates (taken from product/category that is designated in the settings) because it turns your store into a click-to-edit template driven paradise. Create a product with only the basic settings, such as code, name, and price, then browse to the product and flesh everything out right there on the screen. Or set up any other editor to do the copy work without ever going into the admin.

We've started to use this on two different sites...it's awesomely flexible (and Scott's been tweaking it here and there to make it even better), so much so that is hard to focus on just implementing it for the FIRST reason you thought of. :)

Regardless, I'd say this is a no-brainer for almost any store that understands that a single 'typo' or lack of clarity impacts negatively on the site as a whole...and how easy those are to clear up if you just "click" and fix, sometimes in seconds.

Works with any template as far as I can tell. In one case, we actually created a specific "product page" for editing to expose Custom field content that is used for control variables. For example, if a product has a custom field to show or display certain boilerplate information, we can turn change that custom field to Yes/No, even though that content is never displayed on the page.

Yeah, like Bruce said it can work with any template or ready theme. The setup is easy and only takes a few minutes for basic editing such as the product name, price, weight, inventory, and description. Bruce has also stumbled upon an interesting way to use Clicked by setting up store-side pages to edit products (and maybe categories) in a WYSIWYG environment. That's one of the things that makes Clicked so cool- you can edit the product in the store and see exactly how your formatting is going to look without switching screens and reloading pages.
