We have a miva site where we sell books primarily to wholesalers but retail customers buy as well. We are also selling the same books on Amazon and we will be expanding to other online books sites as well. On Amazon, the books are listed under a different company name as the owner doesn't want his wholesalers to know that he's selling books via these other venues. But I keep thinking that we are missing a huge opportunity to communicate with those that buy books from us via Amazon (under a different name). We are not doing great on Amazon yet (just started a month ago), but we are selling 20 books/day which means approximately 600 users/month we could potentially add to our email list and market to. fyi, retail customers can purchase books at the same discount as wholesalers, but anyone who purchases less than $20 worth of books is charged an additional surcharge fee.
So my questions are:
1. Should we use the same name for Amazon as we do for our Miva site?
2. What would you do to avoid the possibility of a channel conflict (selling to wholesalers who then turn around and sale on Amazon, thus we end up competing against them)
Any and all strategies are welcome. Thanks for your help.
