"The Census Bureau of the Department of Commerce announced today that the estimate of U.S. retail e-commerce sales for the second quarter of 2006, adjusted for seasonal variation and holiday and trading-day differences, but not for price changes, was $26.3 billion, an increase of 4.6 percent (?1.7%) from the first quarter of 2006. Total retail sales for the second quarter of 2006 were estimated at $984.9 billion, an increase of 0.9 percent (?0.3%) from the first quarter of 2006. The second quarter 2006 e commerce estimate increased 23.0 percent (?5.4%) from the second quarter of 2005 while total retail sales increased 6.6 percent (?0.5%) in the same period. E-commerce sales in the second quarter of 2006 accounted for 2.7 percent of total sales."
