Thanks Rick. Can I just say how much I *do* appreciate these forums and the fact that you are so responsive to people's concerns. Even if the answer is "no" as it sometimes must be, the fact that we get listened to is priceless.

To understand why in the first place, it was simply a poor UI decision back in 2004 when 5.x Templating system was being built out.

I hadn't thought of it and I don't think I've seen it brought up on here, however it is a good idea and we'll put it on the list to get done.

I prefer Firefox and I've been using the It's All Text extension...but there are times when I just want to make a small change to a description.

I don't understand NOT wrapping text in a form field. It's just polite (very much like the text I am entering now on this message board).

I already understand how to work around it, I would like understand why I have to in the first place.

Yes! Although in the meantime consider using Chrome. You can at least resize the text boxes to give yourself more workspace.

I usually just copy and paste everything into notepad.

Chuck, I'm thinking some sort of "billboard" where all the ideas can be posted. Users could "like", Miva Merchant could say "sorry not feasible" - is this what the app does? Needs to be searchable so we don't post the same ideas over and over again.

So simple I forgot to ask for it too. Yes, this would very much help!

I've had the same issue. I'd love to see Miva Merchant use something like http://getsatisfaction.com/, where people can vote on ideas to determine popularity, and implemented ideas can be marked as complete. Rejected ideas can be marked that way, too, giving a quick "answer."

We use custom for our codes..... So they are long. hence in products section in admin, the list wraps as you go up and down the list causing the page to jump at each name making it EXTREMELY hard to select. It can be fixed by ticking off the code box, yet it wont remain that way.

My wish here is that when you select a Display format, it simply remains that way until you choose otherwise.

Sooooo many wishes to go through, so little time to search. Has anyone suggested that when you click on a category in the admin that it display ASSIGNED products instead of ALL products?

Until Miva offers it you might want to check out

I'd like to have the ability to have Multiple "Flat Rate Shipping" modules. This way I can have one for each Country, and assign them with the Shipping SuperMod.

    FWIW:

We have three new sets of docs/training all on deck for release:

    1. www.mivascript.com will be up any day and has a complete documentation of actual underlying Miva Script. It's fashioned after php.org in structure.

    2. The Developer Training Series starts in under 2 weeks and if you haven't checked it out or signed up yet, go here: http://www.mivamerchant.com/developer-training-series. This free training is designed with web developers in mind but is practical for advanced DIY'ers too. It'll teach you in level 1 how to turn a Photoshop Mockup into a properly built Miva Merchant store. We'll be adding approximately 4 more levels and at least one level for the more non technical users throughout the year.

    3. This one is long long long overdue and we appreciate everyone's patience with us on this subject. But I'm happy to formally announce that we've hired a new tech writer who is beginning immediately on bringing the docs up to date for PR7, then we'll do PR8 then we'll backfill and beef up the older stuff.

I love that there is so much flexibility in Merchant 5.5. :)

I just wish I knew how to use it all... :(

If we expand the base of Miva Merchant users, hosting companies get more clients, module and store developer get more clients, Miva gets more clients, and us merchants will get more updates. In short, EVERYBODY wins. And I think that if Miva were to be more proactive in the documentation, instead of relying on Pamela to come out with a book explaining it, we would all reap the benefits.

    Just my two centavos...
I agree with Mark.. Miva is awesome, yet its like getting that super toy at Xmas time & requires assembly and there no instruction in the box.. or they are so badly written your ready to pull your hair out..... Speaking of that.... Pamela where is your 5.5 book?
