There is no way to do type="text" maxlength="" via css. It is implemented at the browser level. The only other way is via Javascript but using maxlength is far more elegant.

As for the CSS, good point, but you are assuming you want the same formatting on all product attributes. Very often, that is not the case.

By adding these html attributes to Merchant attributes you can make them product specific. Perhaps a CSS class field for each attribute would be sufficient in most cases. and simpler to impliment.

Don't know if these have been covered already, but here is my penny's worth

Softgoods - with product import ability
Validate email address in account create to check if correct.
Ability to easily add text next to payment fields.
Login with email address.
Allow products to NOT have a fixed price - customer enters amount eg. donations
Merge some checkout pages so there are less steps.
Contact page with email form
Reference book on how to code Miva and make customizations

Addition of Independent Versions for Category Header and Footer.

It would be nice if the category headers and footers had independent versions for each category header and footer.

Currently, if you use this feature you can't choose to roll back just the header or just the footer for a perticular category.

Not a big deal, but it would be nice to have this option.

Addtional Cost Column added to s01_OrderItems table.

This would be a good idea, for several reasons. I won't go into all the reasons. Just to say that, when an order is placed the cost from that product should be added to the s01_OrderItems table. This would allow for accurate calculations of Cost vs Price.

Currently, the only was to do this is to use the products table, however what if the cost increases for the product. Now, all your cost vs price calculations are incorrect for older orders where the cost was lower at the time the order was placed. If you just move the current cost of the product to the OrderItems table in a new column called COST. Then you could have and accurate cost vs price calculation.

Not sure why this was never thought about, but is definitely a must add feature if Miva is to ever allow for accurate cost vs price analysis.

Hope this recommendation is strongly considered, for this is a issue I have to deal with all the time and the only way to solve this issue is to mirror the orders database and add the cost to the OrderItems table. Please, make this simple change and we will all benefit. Thanks for your time and consideration.

- Allow for product codes to be longer than 50 characters
- Allow a subcategory to be assigned to more than 1 parent (i'm currently handling this through labor-intensive and tedious redirects)

Buttons:

It would be more developer friendly if there were a simple way to import button settings directly on the button page.

This would consist of a simple textarea where you could past the button code,html (1 per line) like this.

Then I could simply import my standard settings from a text file all at once.

Hi,

It would be nice to be able to set the backcgound colour scheme in Miva Admin.

We run 2 stores and it would be nice if it was completely obvious which store admin we were in.

This would save us overwriting templates / trying to find products in the wrong store admin.

1) Add a little intelligence to the built in related products feature so that if the Main Product is Product A, it doesn't show Product A as a related product (even though Product A might have been assigned as a related product to itself).

2) In the product admin tab, have fields for Image dimensions. The OPEN UI for Merchant 4 had a great implementation where once you defined the path for a thumbnail or main image, a javascript would then look up the dimensions of those images and automatically populate the fields with the proper dimensions. This would help speed up page loading, since having image dimensions defined allows the browser to load the rest of the page first and then fill in the images afterward.

Allow spaces in attribute codes PLEASE! Attribute codes show up on the customer invoice and during checkout, having underscores in the attribute names looks ridiculous.

Why not just show the attribute/option prompt in the invoice and checkout screens?

I think attribute codes might be part of the identifier for the new inventory system, hence would break urls with spaces in them.

Hmmm ... this is a bit of a tough spot to be in, for us (the consumers) and you (the developers). Here, we're being asked what features we want built into MM5.5, while many of the features we're asking for are already available -- but only with plugin modules that we could buy. If our dream features are already available with modules, why add them to the core of 5.5, you might ask? Good question.

As a developer, I can see how it would be rather annoying (and financially detrimental) for new core features to be added to MM5.5 that would then make certain plugin modules obsolete.

Hopefully, a fair balance can be struck.

At this point I have neither of those modules you mentioned. I will consider them. I just find it frustrating that the BASIC functionality of Miva Merchant can be so archaic sometimes (i.e. the lack of order subtotals by default; showing attribute codes rather than prompts to the customer). And, I resent having to buy modules to fix it. While, at the same time, I understand that this software is extremely cheap compared to other e-commerce solutions that easily run into thousands of dollars per year to license and operate.

I am torn.
