For me, it has been a matter of trying to keep the store owner educated about the WYSIWYG or RTE. It can be beneficial for for extremely simple formatting but it would be nice to include the styles the site is using. Some of the more complex templates for WordPress can do this (if the host allows the uploading of fonts).Leslie Kirk

I don't know how many times I have had to clean the crap code that someone has pasted from Microsoft Word into the "editor". My major complaint has been that after spending hours creating a CSS stylesheet for the site to have a consistent look & feel pasting of "code" from somewhere else can blow it all apart, literally. It can also be an issue if the store owner understands needing to use HTML and clicks to that input.

What makes things worse is when someone uses Product Copy feature with corrupted data which ends up multiplying issue exponentially. The amount of resources needed for an organization to weed-out affected records can add up very quickly.
It seems obvious to me that I have failed to properly convey the gravity of this situation. If management realized the severity of this issue, I am sure they would drop everything and immediately addressed same, otherwise this would not be going on for years.Thank you, Bill Davis

i hear ya, but to me...there is no need for a product like miva to have an RTF editor on by default. at most, it should be turned on under limited circumstances. if rtf support is needed, it can be easily done outside of miva. editing content for a professional web site should be done by professionals. that being said, we have a 20 million a year site who's owner still publishes his own content (poorly) despite years (like 10) of us telling him he needs to higher some high school kid to do the actual posting :)

The issue here is that WYSIWYG/RTF editors are not only expected, they're a core part of the buying decision even for big stores these days. Marketers don't want to be held up waiting for the Web Devs to spin up content, even if there are trade offs.
There also is no known way (to me) to solve the problem you're describing technologically (i.e. fix crappy code that people want to cut and paste), so we're basically left with customer behavior training, which we all know is going to be of limited success.
So while I understand the issue and even the potential severity, we're simply not going to do this.

I guess i've been out of the corp loop for far too long. *i* can't imaging a corp allowing someone to touch anything on the front side of the web site without specific knowledge. that being said, i'd peronally want the content sections of the site to require p, li, img, etc as the ONLY markup needed :)

Rick Wilson, I understand and agree with all that, I don't have a problem at all with WYSIWYG/RTF, In fact we use it often.
What I don't understand why anyone would want to copy and paste "while" in WYSIWYG/RTF mode, code mode yes but WYSIWYG/RTF mode would defeat the whole purpose WYSIWYG/RTF because whatever you paste "while" in WYSIWYG/RTF mode you are "Not Going To Get".Last edited by William Davis; 12-27-21, 04:37 PM.Thank you, Bill Davis
