Google Webmaster Tools Site Errors Access Denied

Google Webmaster Tools is reporting a Site Error >URL Error > Access denied 1 error.

Google is trying to access .html (http://www.domain.com/.html)

The site is using the SEO Settings > Short link settings > Suffix > html

The URL's for the site are working as expected.

The robots.txt isn't blocking any URLs:
    Code:
    User-agent: *
    Allow: /Merchant2/graphics/
    Allow: /Merchant2/images/

    User-Agent: Googlebot
    Allow: /Merchant2/graphics/
    Allow: /Merchant2/images/
The Fetch as Google reports "Success" for the domain URL. I can't figure out what could be causing this error. It started showing up after the site was updated from MMUI to CSSUI. The dev site was swapped to the live site. The dev site was on a completely different IP than the "old" site. I've looked at the .htaccess file and am not seeing anything unusual. What else should I look for?

An access denied http status code would be 403. Might be good to check the logs for what 403's are occurring and then the error_log from the same time to see what the web server logs as the reason for the denial.

I think I found where they are getting that url... Clicking on a link from Webmaster tools that it shows linked from and then checking source its from our custom 404 not found page and the canonical and og links being generated.

          <link rel="canonical" href="domain/.html"
          <meta property="og:url" content="domain/.html" />

anyway to address this, or is it not an issue.

We are having a similar/related? problem discovered yesterday in landing pages report in Google Analytics. The report shows our landing pages truncated like /productcode.html and when I attempt to click through it leads to our NTFD page. It should read /category/category code.html or/product/productcode.html. The url reported seems to be dropping the /category/ and /product/ parts of the url which need to stay in there to work. I have not made any changes to our short link SEO stuff or to our htaccess.

I have an open support request with our host since I thought something must have changed with the last update when the google analytics mod was included. We have been using KSE's module and did not change any settings with the latest Miva update (that I am aware of). Not sure if this is exactly the problem described above but it may be related.

I would recommend opening a ticket on the issue if you would like further assistance. None of these issues are the type that can have a cause determined and solution provided via a forum thread as each case is likely to be completely different other than the fact that the http status code happens to be the same.

Hi Dan, after working with my host and within GA I recently uninstalled the KSE module and replaced it with the Miva built in. Reports in GA are starting to show pages with the correct URL structure. It has only been a few days but it appears that correctly formatted url structures are now being reported. I am watching it to see if the incorrect page structures fall off reports. For instance we have thousands of page views recorded for ... /xyzproductcode.html and now we are starting to see the same landing page being reported as it should be .../product/productcode.html.

Re: Google Webmaster Tools Site Errors Access Denied

The KSE Analytics module had the option to specify url structures passed to Google Analytics, which was enhanced for 404/NTFD reporting in later versions. That said, this would not have anything to do with reporting in Webmaster Tools, just Google Analytics. If you are using Miva Merchant's stock short links functionality, the stock Google Analytics module will report those structures accordingly out of the gate, however if you are using non-stock short link structures, the stock module tracking code templates will need to be updated accordingly.

Monitoring this thread, I see a number of completely seperate issues/concerns.
