FWIW, there are some exercises you can do to improve your eyesight. Some people consider it pseudo-science, but I got some results from them. They're pretty easy, and don't require special equipment; might be worth a try.

Yay! The little green button for going to the first unread post is back!

Kent Multer do you have any pointers for tracking down these exercises? My eyesight is atrocious and even marginal improvement would be a bonus.

The most famous source is a doctor named Bates, who wrote a book about it; do a Web search for "Bates method" and you should find info about him. A search for "eye exercises" should find you some more info. The basic idea is just to practice focusing on things at various distances, from tiny print a few inches from your face, to larger text 20 or 30 feet away. The eye, like any part of the body, can improve its performance with practice.

Here's an exercise I made up myself, that seems to help. I close my eyes tightly, using some extra pressure, and hold them for maybe 10 seconds. Then I relax them for maybe 5 seconds. Then I open them wide, wider than normal; and again hold this for 10 seconds, then relax. My theory is that this is sort of like massaging the eyeball, putting pressure on it in different places to reduce the stiffness that makes it unable to focus. Don't overdo it with the pressure; there are some tiny muscles in there, and you wouldn't want to injure one. Disclaimer: I am not a doctor; I don't even play one on TV. Don't sue me if this doesn't work for you.

Excuse me for going off-topic ...

P.S. I forgot to mention: you do the Bates-type exercises for one eye at a time; cover the other eye with your hand, so you don't have to hold it closed with muscle tension. For my home-made exercise, I do both eyes together.

Why are some of the posts in the message center not showing subject? Can't click to find out what it is about. You can click the authors name, but that doesn't give you anything on the message. This has been going on for a while, but just got some time to complain about it. :)
