    AUTHY question

I got a new phone and want to put Authy on it but can't locate my original backups password. I have the app on my old phone which still works and I have the backup tokens from when I created this a few years back. Can I use any of that to help me or am I screwed?

If I do have to reset this somehow is there a way that I can 'reset' for myself without affecting the other users at our company?

Not sure why but failed to add this to my password vault.

Are you talking about the Miva Merchant side? If you can still log in using a TOTP code from the old phone with Authy, then you can edit your user to disable two factor authentication, then turn it back on, to generate a new TOTP key for use on a new device.

I tried the problem is I keep getting the message that 'this account needs your backups password to be decrypted'

Oh, on the Authy side? I don't think there's a way around having the backup password if you need to migrate your stored keys to a new device. This is by design so if someone were to get a hold of your phone, even temporarily, they could not back up your Authy data to a new device and then be generating keys as you without your knowledge.

Ah, okay. I was able to change the password via the desktop version of Authy I had installed. Thanks.

BTW:...a yubi key is well worth the >$40 even for one site IMO.

Yep that's definitely preferable; the NFC version works great on iOS too, although they do have a plugin dual USB+Lightning model now.
