Using Miva as a PIM

Does anyone use Miva as a PIM or product management system as a "true north" for all data about what you sell? Any feedback, concerns, tips?

We are looking to stand up an instance for keeping all our images, dimensional data, PDFs, etc for all products so all teams like IT, Sales, Marketing, etc can have one place to grab data, create CSV file exports for vendors, etc.

We've done some of that for quite a few customers. Usually we setup a "Front Side" page, gated by Customer Login or IP address, and then just build out the page template for whatever needs the client has. Often, its just our "User Guide" so we don't have to keep answering emails like "How do I Create X Again". Other times its custom data reports or vendor access to data such as affiliate commissions or sales reports specific to a sales rep.
