    "eNom" scam?

Yesterday I received three emails that appear to be from a company named eNom and/or name-services.com. They requested that I click various links, apparently related to my domain name registration. They stated that Miva "partners" with them ... but the whole thing smells a little phishy. Is this for real? Should I click any of those links? Did anyone else get similar emails?

    Thanks --

This is odd, enom is definitely a partner of ours (who we use for domain registrations) but I don't recall them sending emails to our customers. We've used them for going on 12 years now.

Can you forward David Hubbard and I the email so we can look?
    Thanks,

I actually received three emails from them, all at the same time. I just forwarded all three of them to you both.

I sent the emails to you and David. But now the situation is more urgent.

This morning I got an email from Miva support, saying that my domain name will expire on June 17 -- two days from today

The email directed me to go to enom.com and renew. I clicked the link, but there's nothing on this page abnout renewing.

There's a sign-in link, but I have no record of an enom.com account.

I clicked the Forgot Password link, and ended up at a page that says:

Further update ... I just called Support, and Martin says he can take care of the renewal today. So hopefully the urgency is over.

But this whole process has been weird and disturbing ... I checked my email Trash folder, and I've received no other emails about the domain renewal until yesterday, 3 days before the expiration. (And No, they didn't go into my junk folder; I don't use any automatic filtering.) Very unprofessional.

Maybe you folks need a new partner for this?

Long ago I put came to the conclusion that domain names should just be on 'auto-renew'. that being said my register does send me about 2 to 3 emails for each domain renewal so i can judge whether they need to be maintained.

Right, I've usually received multiple renewal notices, starting 30 days or 90 days in advance. 3 days is not long enough.

For posterity those emails were legit, I don't have any context as to why now, versus the past, but they were from enom and legitimate.
