QR Codes for product pages

Is it a thing to use QR Codes for products? I've had a request to see if they can be implemented. The client has not responded to the question of "How do you want to use them?"

So, the question I have is, how and why would you use them on a product page on a website?

I've seen QR codes used in TV ads to encourage people to hold their cell phone up to the TV, click and it opens a website. I can see a need if it's a print catalog or print ads. I think I have even seen QR codes on entrance doors to a store.

With that said, Scot has a module for generating QR codes: QR Code Generator hopefully he will chime in with more insights for you.

I concur. Its usually the other way around. The QR code takes them to a web site. Module's like scot's QR code can generate the codes needed to then sent to say a graphic artist or producer. One of our clients use them for in store displays (B2B) clients, that takes them to a information only page and another uses it in there 'pick list' template so fullfilment personal can locate products and notate that they have been packed for shipment.
