Excel 255 Character limit

Is there an easy way around the 255 Character limit in a cell? I don't use Excel (on my Mac) and I have never seen any sort of character limit in any of the files sent to me to convert to CSV and import. I can't see everyone using some sort of concatenate function when creating product descriptions.

That's what I thought. Hence the little overflow indicator or what ever it might be called.
