Generating a new tempalete code to get 9.6 changes

Hi, I would like to regenerate some of my pages like
EMAIL_ORDERCONF_CUSTOMER and start over with 9.6. I am reading in http://www.miva.com/template-change


"if you have not made any custom changes to your template, you should be able to just put the template into point and click mode, set the preferences to your liking, and click update to generate the new template code. "

Some templates do not have Point and Click mode. I have a lot of old code from Original to ReadyTheme variations. Clicking on Original just gives my old default code back or I am wrong there?
Does Point and Click change just the part of the template on the page (like Product Layout) or complete page? I even tried RESET button without success. May be I am blind. Thanks for a tip
