    Order processing issues

    So happy Miva 10 is out... It's like Christmas around here!! Props to the team at Miva :)

    Anyway, I just installed Miva 10 on one of my dev sites and had a client poke through it. So far we've noticed a couple things that make order processing more difficult than it was.

    This is probably just a bug and will be fixed soon, but we've noticed that when clicking on an order to get to the order details screen... the old Miva 9 layout still loads in (only difference is the lock icon):

    Selecting orders is no longer as intuitive. It was much easier to click and drag (or shift/ctrl click) anywhere within the order list to select the orders you want to batch/edit/etc. Not sure why this functionality was removed. It'd be nice if you could click and drag anywhere, but if you hovered over a custom field you could still edit it inline. Honestly, I preferred the old version over this.

    "This is dumb", and I have to agree. I don't understand why the dedicated buttons were removed here. Who the heck decided that "edit custom fields" deserved a button, but batch report/notes didn't? Ya it looks cleaner, but it's certainly not as intuitive (and there's more than enough space). It would be awesome if you could break out a couple of these. There has to be so many stores that use batch reports/notes every time they're prepping orders.

    Wouldn't this be nice?

    Anyway, those are my two cents on order processing. Enjoying everything else I'm seeing so far!

    LOL - RTHOMASDESIGN - I wish my store owners were as excited. I've already gotten panicky emails wanting to know why this came out during their peak season and wishing it could have waited Jan 2021. But I've told them we will step through all of this via a dev site (for the last time needing one - yaay!).

      AFAIK, there isn't the typical time period to upgrade. Everyone can (and probably should if running a live site) wait until after the holidays? Brenan? Rick? immaright?

        It is still 90 days from the date of release. https://www.miva.com/non-compliance-fee

          Well like always it's 90 days for PCI, but the customer can choose to postpone into January if they're worried, they'll incur an NCF, but as long as they upgrade in January, then that's minor for a store who's volume justifies waiting a month.

          In practical terms as long as someone updates before 12/31/20 they won't get caught in our NCF calculations for the January billing period.

            RTHOMASDESIGN The order processing screens will be updated very soon. We couldn't get them done in time for v10. You'll notice some 9.x screens hidden throughout 10, but we'll address all of them ASAP based on priority (Order Processing being the top one).

            bheyde1 I'll ask Brennan to chime in on your other comments.

              As far as the batch list selecting, that was a decision we made for all batch lists. You can still click and drag, but now its only the left column with the checkbox (which is new as well). By making this change it enabled us have a primary column which is a clickable link, far more intuitive.

              As for the "Edit Order Custom Fields" buttons, we'll be updating a few screens to set the correct buttons which show. But in general, we've gone away from having more than 3 buttons show at a time. Order Processing may be a screen where we break this rule, so we're getting customer feedback around this.

              Expect incremental improvements to this screen (and all screens) as we get more feedback.

                Thanks for the update & all sounds good. We'll just have to get used to the selection process. Really crossing my fingers here that you guys "break the rule" as far as the processing buttons are concerned.

                Unrelated, but I've been playing around with the template branches all morning... I'm very impressed – this is going to make life so much easier! Congrats again & thanks :}
