Dark or darker admin theme for MM10?

Sorry guys, I'm going blind with the light gray on silver on light light light blue. I'm old. Is there a dark theme coming? Or at least one with less grays and more whites? Please please :)

Heck I'll hack something if you tell me where. My eyes hurt.

I believe there is a Chrome plugin that creates a pseudo dark mode.

I'll talk to Product Dev about it.

can we alter the admin css by ourselves? I would really like to be able to.

I use the chrome extension Stylus for my custom dark themes. I've got a rather simple dark theme I played with briefly just to knock down the brightness of the new admin. It's far from perfect. But if you want a place to start: https://userstyles.org/styles/190506/miva-10-dark-admin

I just wish the UserStyles website had better performance.

kocourek Thanks for suggesting Stylus and the starter theme! I had been delving down a rabbit hole of chrome extensions that all seemed to have one issue or another (breaks navigation, memory hog, etc.), and this doesn't seem to have any of those issues.

kocourek I found the FireFox version of Stylus and downloaded your theme and instantly the Admin section on my dev site is a dark theme. I thank you muchly. I can help tweak along the way too if you want. I like the carbon fiber background texture. Nice touch :P

dreamingdigital Absolutely! I'd appreciate the help. I'm not able to dedicate much time to building the theme, It only gets updated when I can't handle how something looks.

Haha, your theme looks cool! I started working on my own dark theme two days ago -- was going to post it here today, but you beat me to it! I'm using Stylebot instead as it's lightweight and non-invasive (I don't need analytics on this).

It still needs quite a bit of work. Anyway, if anyone wants to use my theme you can download the the file to import here https://www.rthomasdesign.com/MIVA-STYLEBOT.json *please note that you will need to update your domain in the file before importing into Stylebot (options > backup > import). I'll be updating the file over time, but the link will remain the same.

My vision uncorrected is 20/70 (or worse). I can't work in dark mode, I need all the available light I can possibly get. I guess "dark mode" for me is very akin to my night blindness. So not everyone can use it, but I do think there should be the option to turn it on or off for those that so desire it.

Please add me to the list of those requesting a darker admin font, or better, the ability to change the font or font color. I turn 60 this year, I've been working on computers professionally since 1983 (IBM mainframes) and this font is one of the hardest I've had to deal with. I will try the Firefox plugin suggested, but all I really need is to go from gray to black...

My issue is contrast, I find some things too difficult to distinguish between table backgrounds etc. Take this forum for example, same issue, look at the number of subtle shades of grays, faint lines, etc. Minimalism/subtleties UI can sometimes frustrate folks, including me. I suspect that is the reason why automobile dashboards, buttons, rocker switches, levers, etc, lettering is always white on a mat black background.

After 'getting used to it' I would at least love to have the light gray text a lot darker. Maybe we can compromise on 101010 lol. PLEASE Miva listen to your users on this one please.

We will (and are) but it’ll take a little time.
                              Thanks,
