At least with UA there were "canned" reporting that all you had to do was choose from a bunch of "dimensions" to see the data you wanted to see when it pertained to an e-commerce transaction. Now as Ron has mentioned it appears you have to set "triggering events" (my wording) to even be able to have the ability to capture granular data/analytics and then after you do that you have to set up/design reports yourself. There appears to be little or no "off the shelf" reporting templates/reporting events in GA4.

    Very frustrating
Wow, most disappointing, I would have never thought this was not going to be that complicated, much less requiring "setup/design reports" in GA4. I wish I had a better understanding of all the complexities involved sooner, I would not have waited this long for a native solution so close to GA4 deadline. Very frustrating in deed to say the very least.
    Thank you, Bill Davis

We are also looking for an update on this. We are very rapidly running out of time to implement and test this implementation.

I'm going through the GA4 GTM set-up and there is reference to a "gtm-import.json" file. Where is this file located?

          Thanks,
          Paul

Just a quick note here, so far the configuration seems to be going smoothly. The biggest thing is you must have is at least "Editor" privileges to make the changes in Google.

There was also what I considered a "gotcha" but it doesn't stop you from proceeding. Don't let it alarm you, it is the expected results (even if the docs don't warn you to expect it):

FWIW, these may be the best and easiest to follow documentation from Miva that I have seen - GOOD job!

I'm still working through this and have finished configuring things on the Google side. I haven't yet upgraded to 10.07, but have read through the GA4 migration process. I see that the xml import will create a new js resource(s). I understand how to remove our old stuff, but don't see anything about adding the new. Does the upgrade to 10.07 automatically add reference tags to HEAD and BODY so the new scripts are output on the necessary pages?

The combination of 10.07 and the import of the XML handle all of this. Nick or Brennan can confirm (or correct) this.

Yes, I was really hesitant to run the update to 10.07 because it violates my personal rule of thumb to wait at least a week after an update has been in the wild but gosh this pushes up against Google's shutdown of the Universal Analytics just a bit too closely.

Thanks. That's what I was hoping. I am always hesitant to run updates as well. But, I'm in the same mindset right now due to UA's fast approaching EOL.

                      Hi Leslie and Paul,

The New GA4 documentation and import files work on 10.06.00. so you can switch over to GA4 without having to update Miva to 10.07.00.

                      Hope this helps

Just a point of interest / clarification / gotcha in the documentation. It states "Download GTM-import.json by clicking the "Download raw file” icon near the top right:"

You will only get that link if you are logged into GitHub.. I looked for a minute before creating a login

In reviewing the data-layer in Tag Assistant, there are always (as far as I've seen in testing so far) two canonical URI values. One is relative and one is absolute. Is this correct?

Are you referring to the canonicalUri and the canonicalUrl?

The URL is the full path from the protocol (ex. https:) to the file extension (ex. .html) and URI is just the domain relative path (ex everything after the “.com”)

Haha. Yup, that is it. They both looked like "url" until you pointed it out and I looked more closely. Thanks, Paul
