    Coupon generation 1st time visit

Looking for some ideas on (a) if this is possible and (b) how to make it actually work.
We have a bunch of Vendors that allow us to do a "first time purchase" discount. I have mail chimp up and running and know I can do it with that.

However I'm actually looking to segment this offer and be able to do it for individual Vendors. I'd also like them to get assigned to that specific list. So basically if you visit a (that brand product or category) you would be presented with the discount offer (coupon) but I'd rather it be a button that they would click instead of a instant pop-up offer.

I am already using the mailchimp integration

You could write some template language that will generate a coupon, using https://apps.miva.com/generate-coupons.html, if you visit the specific brand product or category.

Interesting, I have that part working but to figure out how to have that happen only after a sign up to the correct campaign is much more difficult.
Made a custom form in mailchimp which works but I'm struggling with how to have it only show the code once they have hit submit and have a success message .

If the form submits to a Miva landing page you could add a name=value to the url and test for it. Wrap the generate coupon code in a conditional looking for if this=that.

Edit: Maybe submits to is the wrong verbiage... You may be able to set a url for the success message which could be a page/category in Miva. I've never done this with Mailchimp but I know you can do this with Klaviyo.

This way would (link below) possibly work too but it's not built in Miva's integration from what I can see.

Since we do not use coupons often I dread every time I have to create one. I've been wanting to create a unique one-time coupon code (e.g.: Welcome-XXXXX and ThankYou-XXXXX) to be emailed and I finally gave up because the process was not at all intuitive and too convoluted for us. I realize how robust the coupon options are, but its too complicated to used especially when not used regularly. No workflow, tooltips, nothing -sorry.

Finally, we occasionally negotiate a fix price or discount on some order, is there a way other than a coupon that can quickly be setup. The coupon option is such a tedious process.

William Davis Here is the documentation on creating a coupon: https://docs.miva.com/miva10/referen...-using-coupons

The price group functionality is extremely powerful and with that can come with a learning curve for specific scenarios.

Generating a unique one time use coupon code should not be too difficult to accomplish, is there something specifically that is holding you back.

                Here are the steps:
                1. Create a new price group with the eligibility of Coupon Only and the type of discount you want to achieve.
                2. Under the coupons tab create a new coupon or generate a list of coupons
                3. Select the price group you created in the discount to apply option when creating the coupon
                4. Update the max use fields to be 1 so that the coupon can only be used 1 time

As for you second question about negotiating a fixed price you could utilize the Manage Quotes module to create an order with custom pricing. If the discount is going to be consistent and related to a customer you could use the specific customer pricing price group to assign a specific price for a customer on any item in the catalog.

Since this subject is attracting some interest, I'll mention that I have a module that provides some of these features. It's been in use by a couple of stores since 2018.

The module automatically generates coupons for first-time customers. It recognizes customers by their shipping email address, so it works whether or not they are logged in. It can also send follow-up emails; and it manages an opt-out list for customers who don't want to receive promotional emails. The opt-out list can be used for other purposes; the module can expert it in a CSV file for use with other systems such as Mailchimp.

Anyone who's interested is welcome to contact me to discuss it in detail.

Nick, thanks for the documentation. As stated earlier we don't' use coupons often, and having to read the entire documentation for those infrequent occasions is not ideal.

Nick, interesting. But this these are one-time deals and does not occur often, it sounds what you are proposing is very involved. We were hoping for something very simple, similar to Old Man Weiland's "External Product Purchase" ( "... allow a customer to purchase items which are not in your Merchant database. This is particularly suited for auction winnings, printed catalog items, and classified ad items. It could also be used for sale of services or negotiated price items.") which have added benefits. Naturally, not all users should have this option for obvious reasons.

Hopefully the steps that I outlined regarding creating coupons will help streamline the process in the future.

As for the other topic, the problem with using "Old Man Weiland's" module is that it is not going to work with the built in marketing features that Miva provides. Using the Managed Quotes would allow you to take advantage of all the built in features that Miva provides. Setting up Managed Quotes completely can be a bit time consuming and take some coding, however you could install the module and just use it in the admin and not the frontend at all.

You would install the module, then go to the managed quotes section of the admin and create a quote. In the quote you can add any order items (in the catalog or not) with any price, then send the quote to the customer. The customer will be able to select the link in the quote and have the items added to the basket then proceed through checkout. Or if they respond back and approve you can convert the quote to an order in the admin then process normally. The quote module has settings that will allow you to lock down the quote basket so that they can not alter the quantity or items in the basket.

probably doing something stupid, but i installed the module, added it to utilities, even assign it to a page...don't see a way to open it up to create settings.

Bruce - PhosphorMedia When the item is assigned to the page there should be a new section added with the coupon settings:

told you it would have been stupid. did that, but only looked for a new tab. (and its a long page so didn't see it right away.) thanks.

here's the outline of what we are doing:

We connect the coupon module to both create account forms. Once they create and account, we assign a custom custom field "new_account" and mark it true. now, when they create an account all we do is wrap the coupon code item on the sign up forms with "IS NULL new_account"

                              Pretty simple.

Yes, they can keep creating new accounts if they are smart enough, but in this case, they will also lose their 'reward points' too. (and since this is B2B, the also miss out on getting even better discounts via their 'membership' program. (That is done manually...remember, this is B2B and its a consumable product.)
