Gift Certificate Sale Promotion

Wanting to offer a gift certificate promotional sale. Purchase gift certificate and get 10% off. So a $20 gift certificate costs $18. However, the gift certificate generated is for $18 not a $20 value. Tried doing it using a coupon but that did not work as intended. Is there a workaround someone can recommend?

greggc To achieve this functionality you could use a Basket Discount (Specific Products) price group type. Then when you add the gift certificate to the basket the price of the product will not alter and create the gift certificate using the price of the product but give the discount at the basket level.

Another option would be to update the Gift Certificate Sales settings on the product to use a Fixed Amount rather than the Product Sale Price. This would always use the price entered rather than the sale price of the product.
