sitemap feed question

I created a sitemap feed on February 17th and reprocessed it on February 29th. The sitemap.xml on the website shows the lastmod date of 2024-02-29, but when I view the sitemap.xml through the feed on Shadows it has a lastmod date of 2024-02-17, I expected the last processed date, am I incorrect in my assumptions? Did you do a force refresh to make sure it's the most current version in the browser?
