Replacement needed for the B2B tax module

It looks like the EmporiumPlus Business to Business Sales Tax Exemption is going to need to be replaced as soon as possible. It needs the CIM Activity Log which had to be deactivated due to previously identified issues. Any suggestions?

You could just use a Business Account. Create one for B2B, assign all of your B2B customers to it, make it tax exempt.

Miva has a built in Tax Exempt feature. (don't recall the details OTTOMH)

if its not a long list, it can be done through the Customer screen in the admin (its just a "checkbox"). its also supported in the Update Customers import file.

I do believe that feature is missing the ability to store the customer's tax id...but that can be done with a simple custom field.

I'm not sure if I have used the correct "checkbox". I created an Availability Group and checked the Tax Exempt. I assigned a customer, and tested but it still charged tax. I'm pretty sure I did something wrong...

We use Customers > Business Accounts for tax exempt and it works as expected. I created a Wholesale business account and assigned all of the Wholesale customers to it. Business accounts are useful in a lot of ways to group customer types.

Ron, I must be doing something wrong - I did exactly as you outlined and the sales tax is still being added.

Did you create a Business account? Or an availability group? Or you tried both methods and neither worked?

I tried both and neither worked for me.

Well, I'll be darned, looks like I've found another ancient module eMediaSales Tax Data Service is the tax module. So I'm "assuming" I can't use built-in tax exemption checkbox
