Can discounts be applied only to certain variants?

I have a client who sells products in both Blank and Decorated forms. He wants to offer volume discounts, only on the Decorated products. This is easy if the Blank versions are separate products, but we'd rather have an attribute for this. So I guess we need to create inventory variants, and assign only the Decorated variants to the volume-discount price group. Is that correct?

For a large number of products, it could be tedious to set that up. Most of these products will have other attributes, which may complicate things. Is there an easier way?

    Thanks --

Kent Multer Could you leverage Collections? https://docs.miva.com/miva10/referen...de/collections

With Collections you can setup groups of products based off filters. If there was a commonality between the products like a custom field then you could group them all in a collection then assign the collection to the price group. And yes you can assign specific variants to price groups as long as the master product is not also assigned.
