Hurricane Miltion Operations / Pop-Up Notification Feature Request

First and foremost my thoughts are with any of your staff affected by Milton - I hope everyone is safe and things begin to normalize.

Our warehouse and staff were also affected by Milton and even more so by Ian a couple years ago. My question is what is the best way to create a pop-up like the one that appeared upon logging into Miva admin alerting people to the Milton situation?

During Ian it took long time, probably too long, for us to come up with a working solution to handle our downtime need to recover and regroup. Now in light of Milton, having a pop-up that displays to everyone upon site load would be a great first step in case of this and other emergencies. Having it be an easy admin controlled feature that could by customized and toggled on/off or scheduled for a specific time period would be such a great option since during times of chaos we really need something fast and easy while we deal with so many other things.

Not knowing when power/internet/mail will be restored makes it difficult to know if orders should be suspended. Our solution during Ian was to hide many products while fulfilling core product from an alternate location, however this turned out to be bad as we lost a lot of SEO while many of our non-core products were hidden behind Availability Groups.

It seems like this global pop-up is a great way to make sure shoppers know that there may be delays in fulfillment. Consider this a feature request as well as a question as to the easiest way to accomplish this until such a feature exists.

This is a very good idea, Keifer and I will discuss.

As for Milton, I'm happy to say that our entire staff is safe and homes standing. Some damage for sure, still spotty power and internet, but the worst did not happen.

Indeed, this would be valuable. Thinking though whether it should be a simple flex component, or an "act as popup" on specific flex components. It would need some kind of "show only once" logic. In the mean time, if your store homepage is PageBuilder easy to add a flex component to that, or use the new "global flex components" option in 10.10 to add a simple header to every page.

delcorsets In the meantime I attached compressed folder which includes a guide on implementing a simple global popup that will show one time when the visitor enters the site.

The popup JavaScript uses localStorage to ensure that the popup only shows once per session. If you have a developer you can have them reach out to me and I can even guide them on how to integrate the global pop up with PageBuilder so that the message within the popup is easily customizable.

Glad to hear you people are all safe.. ours are too. Definitely damage however and still no power / internet.

Thanks for considering this idea and for the suggestions. At the moment our sites are not using RT or page builder. I'll look at Nick's file to see if I can make that work.. a simple module however would be a lifesaver to merchants going forward in case of future emergencies.

          Thanks again,
