    Shipping debugging option

I am trying to chase down errors in shipping. Some orders are getting the Unable to calculate error.. So I have tried to recreate the issue and in do estimates on my customer account I see some items break the estimate and other work until I add X amount.. So I am wondering why they break. Is there a way to find the error code or reason why a shipment was not able to calculate??

    Thanks,
    Marshall

I would start by looking at the items that break the estimate and see if they have shipping methods limited that are conflicting with the other items in the cart. Also look at your shipping method rules to see if there are weight or cost restrictions that are preventing methods from being available when you add X amount to the cart.

marshallw Do you have any restrictions on your shipping methods? If you select the Settings link and Shipping Settings and check your shipping methods to see if there are restrictions on any of the methods.

I do not have restriction. I have tested various options, and in one instance I have a product quantity of 1 in the basket, and all works. As as increase the quantity 1 at a time testing if a box fills and the estimate is correct, I hit a point when it just fails. Sometimes it's with 8 items, sometimes with others it is 50 items. I am not sure why it starts failing, that is why I would like to know if there is a way to see the return message from a shipping estimate.

I would suggest getting ticket going with Miva Support since you have a way to replicate the failures. Once you open a ticket, please make sure to provide the items you are testing so we can replicate the behavior. Miva Support can add engine level logging to see if the request and return response from the real time shipping provider. It could come down to the weight of the items exceeds standard shipping and requires freight options but no freight options are available.
