PageBuilder - unpublish, hide, or active checkbox

It seems like as soon as I create a new page in PageBuilder, that page is live on my site with no way to turn it off. Is this true?

I'd like to use pagebuilder to create landing pages and time sensitive marketing campaigns. I would want to build the page and then make it live on a specific date and then be able to unpublish. Without an active checkbox, I would have to delete the page.

I also don't want the page be live on our website while I am working on it.

I suppose the workaround for this right now is to build the page in a template branch but that seems a bit messy to me - too many ways for things to go wrong.

So - is there a better work around for this or is an active checkbox coming to pagebuilder anytime soon?

The best workaround is to create all of your layout work in a branch, then "merge" your work. You can also set the "schedule" time to turn off the work until you are ready for it.

Having an "active" checkbox is something I've wanted on ALL pages.

harpkit Leslie is correct, the method we designed for this relies on template branches. Its the staging area to build and preview pages before they go live.

Pushing a template branch live is the "publish" you're looking for. It also has history for easy roll back if needed.

If you feel template branches are overkill for what you need, an alternative would be to create the page at a temp URL then use the copy page feature to copy it over to the real landing page when ready. That process is shown on the video on this page:

What are you're use cases around "unpublish". Today you would need to delete the page or 301 redirect it to another page such as the homepage.

That's a fair question, Brennan. I guess I was thinking that I would be using this to develop various landing pages to go along with social media ad campaigns with time specific deals or promo codes. So when the ad campaign ends or the promo code expires I would just deactivate the page. I guess I can develop the page in a branch and could delete the page on the live site. But maybe I'll find it easier to just modify the landing page and leave it live.

I also don't want to create a bunch of new content that I have to manage and keep up to date. Would be easier to just deactivate it when the content is no longer relevant. I don't know. Again, maybe this won't be how we actually use the pagebuilder feature. Might be smarter to make the content evergreen and keep it live so it gets indexed by google.

Hopefully I'll have some time soon to try the feature out and see how we end up actually using it. If I find, after using it for a while, I am still wanting an active checkbox, you'll be like the third person to know, after Leslie, of course.
