    Brett,

I have no idea what gateway you're changing from and why you must change. The primary gateways in 4.x are the same primary gateways in 5.5.

In addition our business model charges a small monthly fee and doesn't charge for upgrades, so I'm not sure why that's a concern going forward. The only upgrade costs you're likely facing other than time, etc... are for modules and that's a very low cost and very few modules are needed for 5.5 (only one must have from my perspective).

I think you'll find that 5.5 PR7 is so far ahead of what you're used to with 4.x and our competitors for that matter that once you get to 5.5 you'll never look back (or elsewhere).

    Hi Brett,

On item number 2 are these other hosted eCommerce/carts going to pass the compliance muster? I can't think of any software that I have ever used that didn't need to be upgraded. I'm very very leary of open source applications, I've seen the developer get bored or get married and have a family, leaving the user with a no longer supported cart.

On item 3 (and I'm sure Rick will chime in) Miva Merchant is giving away the upgrade to MM5.5 license to help with the transition. The hoops that the Miva Merchant team has been jumping through are not necessarily of their choosing, but have been mandated by the credit card industry. So do make sure that these other carts have jumped through those hoops too.

    Leslie

The coupon redemption module still supports coupons on the product page as before. Also available in 5x it supports coupon redemption on the basket page with multiple redemptions possible. It also has some free product capabilities. The free/reduced/prorated shipping coupons are also available at checkout. The prorated even lets you make some products free shipping while others still get the shipping charged by the assigned shipping modules. See http://www.pinemporium.com/mm5/merch...&Store_Code=PE for a demo.

    Hi,

I'm nervous about the supported changes in 5.5. Please just tell me this, one feature used every day (by my customers), is it possible in version 5.5 to offer a coupon discount ON THE PRODUCT PAGE (as the Instant Coupon from Bill Weiland works), or not?

Secondly, after reviewing all of the hosted eCommerce/cart options, it's getting harder and hard to stand by Miva, I can buy a nice hosted solution for less than I am paying now just for hosting services, and with that solution I do not have to every worry about upgrades, etc, etc...

Thirdly, first my host raves about how Miva is going to support PCI on Miva 4.x, now Miva decides they will not do that, and now I find out I have to change to a different gateway just to process transactions! Why is more and more difficult to choose Miva over other solutions, did you consider this MivaMerchant?

    Thanks,
    -Brett

Just to be clear, I would assume you are handling the "raw" data transfer from Merchant4 to Merchant5. There are still hand tweaks, ranging from simple to massive depending on the amount of customization of the Merchant 4 site that are required. (Unless, of course, Eric is offerring this service as well.) However, any decent designer/intergrator/developer is going to ask you to move from Westhost to a real Miva Merchant host like Hosting4less before they even return your email<G>.

    Hi Rick,

Thanks for the post. Perhaps we can get this page http://www.mivamerchant.com/products...t/mm5/pay.html updated so that it has "PCI COMPLIANT" next to the payment methods that will maintain PA-DSS?

    From link above:
    Supported Payment Gateways

The following is the list of supported payment gateways.
    Real Time Payment Gateways:
    • Innovative Gateway Soultions by Intuit
    • Orbital Gateway by CHASE Paymentech
    • PayPal Website Payments Pro
    • PayFlow Pro by PayPal
    • PayFlow Link by PayPal
    • Authorize.net
    • First Data Global Gateway (formerly Linkpoint)

    Alternative Checkout Methods:
    • PayPal Website Payments Standard
    • PayPal Express Checkout
    • Google Checkout
    • Amazon Simple Pay
    • Checkout By Amazon

    Offline Capture Methods:
    • Credit Card With Simple Validation
    • Check Payment
    • COD

    Just a thought....

    Brett,

No it's gateway based and covered in our PA-DSS implementation guide.

You can use Authorize.net, Innovative Gateway, PayFlow Pro, CHASE Orbital, or First Data Global Gateway.

So, what you're saying is I have to change over to Chase/Paymentech as the merchant, is that right? This is the only payment processor info I can find at Miva Merchant:

    Hi All,

Anyone using OpenUI on their Miva Merchant 4 store should subscribe to this thread below about the exporter tool to stay abreast on what is going on with this tool.

    Hi,

    Brett,

regarding the payment module this then runs into the question of PCI compliance and which payment modules in Wombat are compliant and you would have to use one of those if you want to be compliant. So its really difficult on the merchant to make a clear business decision because ok if I want to be compliant by moving to 5.5 I have to go all the way compliant and see a payment processor that is as well.

As for the migration, We are handling this for our customers, however the export tool is lacking some features at the present time so it really is a case by case basis to see how well the openUI data will export out of 4.x into 5.5. Some customers are choosing to have 5.5 stock install and work their way through it. Some customers have us export the OpenUI framework and do a new import of products/categories. Some customers choose to only export the products/categories and start with new look and feel.

As for the modules we too are compiling a list of X module on 4 does it exist in stock form in 5.5 and if not what 5.5 module is out there to handle this prior functionality.

    Hope this helps,

If your order batches are still there, then that data gets transferred to 5.5. But if you deleted batches and only have the brief order history, then the orders are not transferred. MANY module you will not need in 5.5. For example the viking templates and emporium plus order management is replaced by the built in system in 5.5. However, if you do have some modules whose functionality has not been built into 5.5, then you'll need to purchase upgrades to those modules (at a reduced price).
