    PA-DSS compliant?

Is anybody NOT making the switch to Miva 5?

If not, how will you handle the PA-DSS compliance issue?

We're using modules in Miva 4 that are not available in Miva 5 so making the switch is becoming a headache...

    What modules can't you replicate?

      Re: PA-DSS compliant?

We're using the Affiliate Stores module we got from Luray at Santa Fe Mall many years ago and since Luray passed away the module has not been updated.

      I posted about it here:
      http://extranet.mivamerchant.com/for...d.php?t=101336

Here is a description of the Santa Fe Mall module I’m currently using: Create the appearance of multiple stores while retaining the simplicity of administering a single store. Carry the look of your individual web sites throughout the store or assign a unique look and feel to specific categories.

      Thanks :-)

That can be done today manually through the template language and it's on our list for next year to add a very robust version of that feature to the core software.

          Re: PA-DSS compliant?

          Really?

Here is the response I received from Bryan Mciver:
The functionality you are aiming for sounds very powerful and indeed would be a great feature to have. Unfortunately, there isn't anything currently available along those lines that I am aware of.

If you click through the stores in my sig you will see what I need:

If you enter the shopping cart through the URL http://www.Buy-Rash-Guards.com you will see a header, footer, pages, products and category tree unique to 'Buy Rash Guards' and you will ONLY see the 50 products, (out of the 200 in the store's DB), assigned to BRG.

If you enter the SAME shopping cart through the URL http://www.Buy-Hawaiian-Seat-Covers - even though it's the SAME shopping cart and DB - you will see a header, footer, pages, products and category tree unique to 'Buy Hawaiian Seat Covers' and you will ONLY see the 25 other products, (out of the 200 in the store's DB), assigned to BHSC.

Since I run all of the stores, they're not really 'affiliates' in that I need to keep track of each store's stats and sale separately.

          Thanks!

            Re: PA-DSS compliant?

Bryan (and the rest of the support team) are all very great support reps, but they don't tend to be up on the kind of advanced functionality you'll bump into through actual devs (like you find on the forums here).

Here's an example of a site we did that essentially works this way:

            http://www.sjdesign.com/
            http://laptopclassroom.com/

Are both the exact same Miva Merchant 5.5 store behind the scenes with 2 different look and feels throughout (they do share the same url structure for checkout however, which is something you'll be able to get around with our new feature next year).
            Thanks,

WOW - that looks like what I need to be able to accomplish!

How can I do that? Is that a module?

                Re: PA-DSS compliant?

                Hey Lori -

They way it works is that each of the sites are completely static html websites. If you look at the add to basket URL's for laptop classroom there is an extra parameter that tells Miva which design to show:

                http://<br /> http://www.sjdesign.co...1&ref=lc<br />

In Miva we are able to read in this variable and change the design of the cart to match the site it came from. It works really well for having multiple static websites all use a single Miva checkout process. We actually built that site for sjdesigns.com. Let me know if you would like us to take a look at your site.

                  Re: PA-DSS compliant?

Yes, having multiple static websites all using a single Miva checkout process is exactly what I need and what the Santa Fe module did VERY easily - so that even a non-programmer person could do it!

I need to be able to so this myself - is that possible using the method you're describing?

                  Thanks :-)

                    Re: PA-DSS compliant?

To initially create the functionality to display different designs you'll need a web developer or someone who is familiar with Miva. However once it setup it should be exactly the same as your current store.

                      Re: PA-DSS compliant?

                      1. Is this something you guys can do for me? If so, how much is it?

                      2. Does it have to be done for each store or once you set it up can I create as many 'stores' as I need, (I currently need 4).

                      3. Is this something that you guys will be adding next year and if so will I then be able to do it myself? If this is the case I may wait until then instead of paying a developer to do it now as funds are VERY tight!

                      Thanks for all the info!

                        1. It would depend, we'd need to do a call. It would be in the low thousands would be my guess.

                        2. I'll have to deflect to Brennan on that one.

                        3. Yes once we include it, you won't need us for it. However we will likely require additional licenses for it, so it will cost you something, just not sure how much yet.
                        Thanks,

                          Re: PA-DSS compliant?

The price is waaaay out of my budget as I paid $150 for the module I'm currently using and was hoping to find one in the same price range.

I guess I'll have to wait until this is a function within Miva. :-(

So... back to my original question: Is anyone using Miva 4 NOT switching to Miva 5?

                          Thanks :-)

I am sure there are people who are not switching.

There are so MANY good reasons to switch, though, that many are finally making the jump.

have you looked at some of the product and category template modules that are available on the sebenza.com site? They might get you half way there.

the other thing with Merchant 5 is that you can customize a lot of stuff yourself with a module like ToolKit by www.emporiumplus.com.

I am not going to lie - there will be a BIG learning curve for you if you want to try and go that route. But it would be cheap and you will learn the insides and outs of the Merchant shopping cart, and will be able to do a TON of cool stuff.

It really depends on how much time / money you have to spend on things.
