Some help with UPS Shipping Label Generator

A novice needs some help, I hope this is the correct forum for posting. We just installed the wombat upgrade, and I'm stumped on the UPS Shipping Label function. If anyone can help, or if there a source of info, I'd appreciate the help.

Issue 1:



When I'm in the order manager and trying to generate a label, it's requesting a company name each time. Most of our orders are for residential customers, so this isn't helpful. If I flub-it, and add a name or a digit, it will accept it and begin to generate a label. Is there some way I can remove this required field?

Issue 2:


When I create a label, it's giving me a label with a tracking number (which I assume is correct), but notice the "SAMPLE" in the bar code. Any thoughts on how to remove this?

Currently the UPS label function will always put "sample" on the labels until our development team goes through their (UPS) certification process. A bug (ID 557) was created for development regarding the company name being required and I believe this is a field that is required by their API. I'll double check with development regarding the requirement and get back to you.

At this time the UPS label function is NOT ready for live environment.

OH.....you might want to let your sales guys know. We just completed the wombat upgrade, we were told that it would come with the UPS software to make labels. They didn't mention that it wasn't ready or still under development.

I'll let the sales guys know. I spoke to development regarding the company name field being required. As of right now this is a requirement via their API docs but development will research it further. I believe development is scheduled to address these UPS label issues after the next patch.

Perhap you should also have the ups module state clearly at the top of it, to not use in product on a live website.
I've been trying to make it work on and off for three days now and found this topic when I was looking for something else..

very frustrating.

I second that. I spent several hours trying to get it to work, too...

Until Miva gets this fixed, In the meantime, I have gone with Shipworks, which has a Module for Merchant 5 (and even Merchant 4), so you can download your orders from your store right into it. Plus if you have an Endicia account, you can use shipworks to run your dazzle software.

Plus you can use it for designing packing lists, pick lists, invoices, etc.

The only drawback to shipworks is it seems to be a memory / resource hog. I have a Win XP box with a P4 2.8 ghz and 500 megs of ram, and it takes forever to load and slows my other apps down.

Oh, and the other drawback is that you'll have to copy and paste your tracking numbers back into wombat, and the whole purpose of the wombat manage orders / manage shipping was to have everything in ONE PLACE.

Can wait for the Wombat Endicia interface and the UPS shipping labels to be released.
