I recently changed my credit card processor from Chasepayment tech to Paypal because I was offered better rates from Paypal. In 3 years I never had an issue with orders being lost with Chase. Now I am occasionally losing orders. My customer makes a payment on the Paypal site, I get the money, but Miva does not generate an order/invoice. I had this problem in the past and Miva claims it is a Paypal issue, Paypal tells me it is a Miva issue. Does anyone know of a solution? Maybe I have a wrong setting?

Re: Paypal lost orders
That should be a rare occurrence. Maybe one in 200 or 300 orders. Is it happening more frequently than that?Bill Weiland - Emporium Plus http://www.emporiumplus.com/store.mvc

Re: Paypal lost orders
We changed over 4 sites to PayPal Payments Advanced and/or Payflow Gateway last week.
SO far we have had at least 5 orders that we get a Subject: Notification of payment received
But NO MIVA Invoice shows up in admin section.
5 lost Miva Orders out of 82 +- orders tells me that there is an issue but I don't know where to look.
At least 3 have been on 1 web site & 2 on 2 other sites
Any thoughts?

Re: Paypal lost orders
We have experienced the same situation for many years, with no end in site. It will happens once in 200 to 300 orders. The issue just hasn't been solved.
However Wieland's Lost and Found Orders has saved many an embarrassing phone call because it will have the order details even though the customer never checked out.

I highly recommend it. I have paid for itself so many times.Brandon Lubbert

Re: Paypal lost orders
Brandon,
That should never happen, something is likely timing out on your call to PayPal.
That can happen with PayPal Standard (it's a fundamental flaw in the IPN system they use) but that should never happen with PPA.
From Dev:
"Support has a checkout logging module that should be able to figure out what's going on.. typically when we see these sorts of things it's a timeout setting or some automated process that's locking a critical order processing table for a very long time"

Re: Paypal lost orders
So what do I do to fix this? Do I need to call PayPal support? or is this something you guys take care of?Brandon Lubbert

Re: Paypal lost orders
Two things.
PayPal-R is deprecated and a third party mod, you should move to the built in version of that PayPal Payments Standard.
Second PayPal-R (and PayPal Payments Standard) are two modules for the same thing, PayPal IPN. This is an inherent "problem" in the IPN technology from PayPal (and why they've moved heavily away from it).
You should ultimately consider switching to PayPal Express Checkout instead of either PayPal-R or PayPal Payments Standard, that should solve this problem permanently.
