Multiple Swatch Drop Downs for a Product

We need the ability to have two swatch drop down attributes. Is there a way to reformat the default layout of this somehow? Right now, all the dropdowns are on top of the page and all the swatches are on the bottom. I think it would be best if the dropdown was immediately above the swatches it corresponds with. So it would be dropdown, swatches, then another dropdown and its swatches.

I actually brought this up with Miva Merchant some time back and they said they had customized the swatch script to make it happen for a few clients. We have not had any clients willing to pursue a solution, so we haven't gone down that path at this point, but I would love to see this as stock functionality. It doesn't make sense usability wise to have the swatches lumped together, then the associated dropdowns following.

Can you cross post this in Dream Features so it doesn't get lost. And I think Dan's right we can do it now as a Professional Service.

I'm going to have to dig through posts - but I too seem to recall fussing about this and at least asking to be able to label the swatch groups. Someone (it may have been Brennan) may have posted something to try. Think it was when I had three sets of identical swatches on the bird diaper site that needed labeling.

But yeah, the swatches really, really need to be located with their drop down selector.

I have used the additional script mentioned here:

But all I have been able to accomplish with it is to create two swatch sizes.

Quick follow-up. I found one of my posts about the multiple swatch issue. Looks like I never got a resolution, since I "hid" the swatches in a tab:

So I am still struggling with this and now I would like a way to be able to hide the swatches and have them show when selected.

Thoughts (other than I've gone mad).
