Agreed, we have that too (it's called Dynamic Order Export) but we only make it available to Dedicated Server customers at this time.

To me the devil is in the setup. Setting this up for each vendor would take a certain level of knowledge, and if you wanted to change, add or alter, that same level of knowledge would apply. Modules like the Viking Coders Vendor Manager made this extremely easy for store owners/managers to setup, manage and maintain. There was also no need for automation because the module action was fired at the same time as merchant and customer email notification processes.

My gut tells me there is still a need/place for a vendor notification module, but I could be wrong.

This is hard to convey, since each instance is so customized.

But conceptually, using Custom Fields and SMT you can for example trigger specialized emails only when certain products are ordered. So you can use Template Based Emails to communicate with a Fulfillment Center.

Same logic, but using CSV's or XML you can apply to this methodology to a Template Based Batch report to create files to send to a fulfillment center.

If you're on a dedicated box with us, then you can supercharge this with our Enterprise Tools which can automate the file creation, delivery and receipt.

Rick, I'd love more details on this too - got a video on it or anything? I'm sure I can figure it out but if there's something to start with that's even better.

Thanks Rick, I have no doubt that to be true. Cant wait to see what we've been missing out on once we finish migration.

It is part of the core system, you're not clearly understanding what's plausible with Template Batch Reports and Template Emails.

Will keep that in mind when I get to that phase. But I really can't see how this can be accomplished without a module if it is not part of the core system.

I can't help being surprised though, drop-ship and merchandise on consignment is a fairly common thing, many eCommerce business are started this way, one would think many options would be available.

eMedia has a 5 version from Brock.

But I was able to create the same functionality as Rick said using a couple of page templates and the toolbelt.

The page templates can be configured to work even if you have more than one vendor with multiple items in an order.

Creating your own page templates gives your more control over style and functionality without any reoccurring service charges.

Then if you're on a Dedicated Server with us, it would be trivial to automate these things using our Enterprise Tools.

Rick, this needs to be an automated process in order to obtain and maintain vendor trust.

A small merchant wearing many hats can easily forget a process for multitudes of reasons. In any type of relationships based on trust, one must take every precaution possible to avoid even the appearance of wrongdoing.

All of this can be done with Template Based Batch Reports and Template Based Emails. If it needs to be fully automated we can do that with our Enterprise Tools and Dynamic Order Export.

All of this though is a Process issue not a module issue and can be done with out of the box PR8.

Bill - two folks that I highly recommend are mentioned here - Bruce and Kent. Check with them both to see what they can come up with for you. Also if you come up with a good drop shipper solution, it might be of value to other's too. I happened to remember another site that had asked me about one too. I'd love to be able to pass the info on to her.

I believe there is a way to cobble together a system like this in MM5 through off the shelf modules. We've also build custom 'one click' or hands off modules that do this as I am sure folks like Kent Multer has as well.

Use Viking Coders Vendor Manager module in old MM4.24, are there similar MM5.5 solutions?

    Recap:

Viking Coder Vendor Manager module is a Drop Ship / Consignment module.

Drop Ship: Automatically notifies vendors (drop shipper) via email each time a drop ship item has been sold. Once vendor receives payment from merchant vendor processed the order.

Consignment: Work similar to Drop Ship, automatically notifies vendors via email each time a consignment item has been sold.

At the end of month, the module can produce a monthly statement for each vendor to facilitate reconciliation
against each item email notification received. The monthly statement contains:
    • Sales date for each item sold
    • Amount owed by merchant to vendor for each item based on; quantities multiplied by flat rate and/or percentage of item price, cost or sold
    • Total owed by merchant to vendor for all items sold for said month
    • Total since inception
