    Importing Orders

One of THE biggest issues I have run into when doing a site make over that involves having to start with a fresh install (such as going from MMUI to CSSUI) is the loss of Order data. Has anyone come up with a reasonable solution to export the order data from the existing store into the soon to be live store?

A lot of Order History is lost without this ability.

    Re: Importing Orders

Our clients have exactly the same problem. Even when not going from MMUI to CSSUI, there is always a gap which needs to be filled. Clients don't need the cc data, just the orders. Is this maybe something for the Miva wishlist?

      Dear All,

I wrote an Order Import Module a long time ago. It has not been updated in awhile.

Wow, glad to see you around. Too little of Miva developers now-a-days. Do you intend to update it - if necessary - and sell it?

          Re: Importing Orders

          Dear Andreas,

Yes, still around. Been doing things for old clients. Taking on new ones once in awhile.

Car wrecks, surgeries, and some school has kept me busy.

          Considering jumping back in.

I will look at the Order Import Module and see how much work it needs.

Right now I am looking at ways to offer an Availability Group only if a Customer has put something into Custom Field. Checking the Field is easy, looking for an easy way to capture the data at the time of Account Creation and the ability for the Customer to Update it later if required.
          Thank You,

Leslie, I'll talk to development to see if an order import is on the radar.

Our professional services does offer this as a service. We usually can import orders at the database level in 5 to 8 hours. It can get more complicated if there are module tables that need to be brought over as well.

Yeah, I can understand the "complicated" part BUT order history shouldn't be lost just because a store is being converted from MMUI to CSSUI. That, in my less than humble opinion, should be taken into consideration. It makes for a really hard sell to tell a potential makeover client, oh by the way, you'll lose all of your order history.

I'm going to keep tabs on what NerdBoy is doing. I also need to dig through my notes, I think Kent may have been looking into this issue too.

                Re: Importing Orders

I've done some other types of order imports and exports, but nothing for direct store-to-store copy. I'll be glad to discuss it.

Has anyone made any progress on a solution for order import? I am at that point again where I have the order gap from my old site to my new site.
