How do I get it set up so I can generate shipping labels (with insurance) directly through MIVA?

Re: Usps
"With insurance" is definitely where things get murky. To my knowledge, hopefully someone from Miva Merchant will verify, you would have to print your labels through an external/online solution to include insurance. Since the stock Miva Merchant USPS module doesn't offer insurance capabilities, you also need to come up with a solution to calculate insurance rates, ie. addendum question/order level, attribute/product level and I think the Viking Coders USPS module offered insurance rate calculations if you have a subscription with them. (there are a couple of other methods, but it really depends on how you specifically need to calculate the insurance rates)

Re: Usps
Endicia can be found under Shipping Settings within the Miva Merchant Admin. Once enabled, you can try it in test mode to see if it is going to work for you or not. Within the Manage Orders, you will select the orders you are ready to ship, then click the "Create Shipment" button. Then go under "Manage Shipments" and you will see a link for "Generate Shipping Label" next to each shipment in the list. Clicking on that link brings up a popup where you can select the shipping method from a dropdown, which if you select a USPS method should engage Endicia.
As to if the Viking Coders module supports/auto-populates the Endicia insurance field, I can't answer that.

Re: Usps
Thanks Dan. It looks like it requires a monthly subscription cost of $15.95/month??? Hmmm

Re: Usps
Right, Endicia is not free, just like Stamps.com and other such services. You may want to look at USPS Click-N-Ship (https://www.usps.com/ship/print-a-label.htm), however this is currentaly not available through the Miva Merchant admin. (you would need to re-enter shipment data, or use a shipments export/import into Click-N-Ship)

Re: Usps
Yeah, USPS itself does not offer an API (currently) to add postage to labels. In fact if you buy postage via USPS.com today, it's actually Stamps.com running in the background.Last edited by Rick Wilson; 09-26-14, 08:56 AM.

Re: Usps
Thanks Dan. Okay, I will continue using the Click-N-Ship site... I thought there might be an easier/quicker way to do it.

You'd have to somehow use a handling fee to do this or the miscellaneous fee module.
Don't the insurance rates charged have a factors that is it dependent upon? Is this something that will be added in a future release?Leslie Kirk
