SPDY compatible with Miva

Since Google has made it clear that SSL site will get a small ranking boost, I wanted to get my SSL pages to load faster using Google's SPDY protocol

I have an updated miva site with dotcomhost and they tried to installed the SPDY Apache module and it caused my SSL pages to not load.
Is miva not compatible with SPDY?
Has anyone else installed this?

We haven't tried it. Our shared servers typically have a few things that would be incompatible for one reason or another, and our dedicated servers tend to use nginx in front of apache, and its spdy module is still considered experimental. Personally I think the benefit of nginx handling static content, and even more so with caching enabled for page content, outweighs the potential gain from SPDY.

Since nginx is for static content and SPDY does both we need to get the SPDY working on my dedicated server

My point was that since SPDY support in nginx is currently classified as 'experimental', it is not good to run it in nginx on a production server. So that leaves you with the choice of getting rid of nginx so only Apache is being used, allowing you to also use SPDY, or keep nginx to get its benefits and not having SPDY. My opinion is that you get more from search rankings using nginx not only for static but as a reverse cache, than you ever will from SPDY without nginx or a reverse cache. The performance improvements from nginx with reverse cache enabled are simply far greater than a negligible improvement SPDY would give you.

In any case, if you do want to run without nginx and apache with SPDY, was the server working correctly in serving of static content once the module was added, and the only thing that was not working was requests that would have been handled by the Miva Empresa engine?

It's worth noting that so far in real world testing the "boost" Google is mentioning from SSL does not appear to be meaningful.

In other words, there haven't been any real world cases that we've seen of a sites rankings improving by going all SSL (yet).

Of note, Google Webmaster Tools isn't even ready to handle full https sites :)

No question things will eventually end up full secure, but there are a number of pieces that need to fall in place first. Google's ranking boost announcement and their recent security warning updates to Chrome are a little premature.

The final HTTP/2 RFC was only published a few weeks ago so that is going to require some time on the development side. The public posts I've seen from the nginx web server (what we use as the front end) developers is that they anticipate releasing an http/2 module at the end of 2015, so we'll likely be able to support it shortly thereafter.

For posterity, developers will want to use TLS with HTTP/2 for intermediaries.
