Client is trying to remove WYSIWYG Editor from their Miva 5.5 store but the process is not working. The module has been unassigned from all page templates, and you can uncheck it from the Utilities section ok - but as soon as you go back to Utilities -> Modules, the module is marked as active again. Cannot be uninstalled/unchecked/deleted permanently - keeps coming back with a message that it is in use in one or more stores. The checkbox for it does not appear to stick in the 'off' position under Utilities.
The module was installed originally by Miva, and client has no docs or info on this module as it was not provided by Miva to him (the client paid for the module to Miva, not to eMedia Sales directly). When he contacted Miva support to have it removed, Miva is asking $750 to do this. Ouch. That's... extorsion.
I've opened a ticket with eMedia Sales but they have not responded yet (it's been ~48 hours).
Does anyone have any clues as to how to remove this module from an otherwise fully functional v5.5 store? Client cannot upgrade to Miva v9 with this module in place (upgrade fails as the module is not compatible), and Miva continues to charge the client monthly "non-compliance fee" because he hasn't upgraded to v9 yet. Catch-22. Can't upgrade with the module being "active", and Miva which installed the module in the first place will not help with uninstalling it unless the client pays $750 fee for this service.
Simply marking the module as inactive under the Modules section does not resolve the issue, the upgrade script still sees the module and will not proceed.
Anyone has any ideas on how to remove this module?
