error code 4001 - unable to authorize payment

Hello Folks,
Trying to get the Innovative Gateway setup. First it was setup as an eCommerce account instead of an account compatible with Miva Merchant. My customer now has a new UserName and PW.

Now I am getting the following error code when trying to place a test order (module set in "test mode") using Visa test CC#.


Unable to authorize payment:

* The card Issuing bank returned a "DECLINE" response to our processor indicating that the Bank will not allow the credit card submitted to be authorized for the amount requested. (error code 4001)

We really need to get the site up and running. What am I doing wrong?

I found this when I did a search for the error:

This is likely the result of the fact that you are using the username "gatewaytest" for testing. This user is not capable of running a "live" credit card number. Think about it. If it did anyone in the world could see part of your card number and your address. In order to get a "approved" test you must follow the instructions from the testing "white paper". This requires the sending of an additional field "test_override_errors".

Have you tried taking the module out of test mode to see if you get a different result?

Email me offlist if this is urgent and you need help configuring IGS this weekend. Otherwise our support staff will do this for you for free first thing Monday morning.

If you're using a Visa test card with live credentials, that's the response you'd expect to get.

Thank you for the replies - was finally able to get through to Innovative support - yes, it was because I was using a Visa test card. Did a real transaction for $1.00 (created a temporary test product). That one went through and all seems to be working fine!
