    Template Data Feed with MM9

Emporium's Template Data Feed seems to be functioning EXTREMELY slow since updating to Miva 9. I have yet to be able to finish a full export. I would estimate that it would take at least 24 hours to finish the feed. This would mean I would need a dedicated seat just for product exports to Google Shopping. Miva 9 is quickly becoming a nightmare.

What version of the TDF module are you running?

Current version is 5.090, recommend getting that updated to see if it resolves your issue. That module has had a number of performance upgrades over the years.

I will try that but it was working fine last week before the MM9 upgrade and I don't think that module has been updated in a few months.

Pack your store's data files. Then go to the TDF setup screen. Create a new test feed. Don't put anything in the header section. In the products section put just the token for product name. In the length of the description input enter a -1. Save the test feed. Then run the feed and see how fast it runs.

Bill, should I try updating to v5.09?

Yes. You are using a quite old version. It does not hurt to update as there are many new things added in the couple dozen updates since your old version.

I updated and ran the data feed again. The feed ran quickly and shot up to about 8% before slowing back to a crawl. At the same time, Miva admin ran extremely slow and then resumed normal speed as soon as the data feed slowed. Could Miva be allocating resources to Template Data Feed or other functions?

Is this the test feed or the regular feed that is slowing after 8%?

Both test and regular feed start off with what appears to be a fast refresh rate and then begin to slow at around 5-8%.

How many total products do you have?

In the test feed setup, what number did you put for the override clock setting?

There are a few hundred thousand, mostly inactive products. The export file includes a bit over 13,000 products.

The override clock setting is default 20 records.

Try changing the override to 200. If it runs better, change it to 500. If it times out, tweak it back to 400. Tweak it to see if you can get a better balance.
